What is FAQ.bike?
FAQ.bike is a free, open-access cycling FAQ platform for urban cyclists across Europe. Our mission is simple: give every city cyclist instant access to verified, locally accurate information — without having to dig through dozens of municipal websites, forum threads, or outdated PDF documents. Every FAQ answer is sourced from official city authorities, national cycling organisations, and local police — and is kept current.
Why we built it
Cycling is growing fast in European cities. But the practical information cyclists need — where to park safely, how to register a stolen bike, which streets allow contra-flow cycling, what the local e-bike rules are — is scattered across city websites, police portals, and transport authority pages, often in only one language. FAQ.bike gathers it all in one searchable, multilingual resource. We think a cyclist in Brussels should find the same quality of verified, local information as a cyclist in Amsterdam or Vienna.
Who we are
FAQ.bike is built and maintained by the team behind a.bike, a European bicycle theft prevention advocacy platform. a.bike works with cities, cycling associations, and police forces to reduce bicycle theft across Europe. FAQ.bike is a natural extension of that work — giving cyclists not just protection tools, but the practical knowledge to ride confidently in their city. Our team is based in Brussels.
Our approach to content
All FAQ answers are researched from primary sources: official city council websites, national transport authority publications, police services, and verified cycling organisations such as VCÖ (Austria), Cycling UK, Pro Velo (Belgium), and others. We add inline citations to every answer so you can verify the source yourself. When local rules change, we update the relevant pages. Multilingual approach
We believe that cycling information should be available in the cyclist's own language. Our pages are available in English (EN), French (FR) and German (DE). The German and French versions are not machine translations — they are editorially reviewed. We are working on Dutch (NL) and Italian (IT) versions for future city additions.
